We wanted to make it easier to find ethical tools, platforms, and communities — without spending hours searching.

These are some of the same choices we’ve made (or considered) while building SOMOS. 

We include tools and communities that align with our values: privacy-respecting, fairer to creators, community-owned, or mission-led.

Some we use ourselves — others come highly recommended by the ethical tech or social impact community.

We tag any tools we use internally at SOMOS as part of our SOMOS Stack.

We welcome feedback. If you’ve had a negative experience with a listed tool, or think it doesn’t reflect our values, please let us know.

Honestly — we haven’t either (yet!). We’re a small team, and we’re making improvements at a sustainable pace.

Even switching one tool — like your browser or calendar — is a step away from extractive platforms. This space is here to support better choices, not shame imperfect ones.
